one of my dearest friends, em and her fiance, john came to visit me in DC. we had the best dinner ever at Central and went to the best museum in DC, the Newseum i was happy to get to know john better and to spend some QT with them both. we also headed up to jersey for their wedding shower, hosted by john’s mom. who knew other people besides filipinos had whole roasted pigs at parties! (i missed getting a picture of the pig, but they really did have a whole roasted pig w/o the apple).

little people

It’s been awhile since I’ve added any entries, mainly because I haven’t taken any new pictures in the last month. Ian came home to DC a few weekends ago, which was great. He tried Wii Fit for the first time and stayed up trying to beat all my records. He’s got the balance games down, but can’t touch me when it comes to yoga! I was in Ohio last weekend again, where we watched the new Batman movie. Pretty uneventful stuff for most but for us, any time we can spend together is nice.

Anyway, I thought I’d put up some pictures of our nieces and nephews. We can’t see them as much as we’d like to and love getting pictures of them. We’re always so amazed at how fast they grow!

Parades, parades and more parades

if you didn’t already know, the 4th of july is the biggest campaigning holiday for candidates. we hit a total of 4 parades while i was visiting over the long weekend. i mostly held the banner, while ian waved and threw candy at all the kids. it was crazy! ian’s boss, john, was with us shaking hands and saying hi to everyone. on the 5th, the governor of ohio came out to support john. he walked in the parade with john and joined him at a house party to say some good words about him. check out the pictures in the albums section...as you can see from the picture above, ian forgot to put on sunscreen (again!) and turned into a true redneck from ohio.

happy anniversary!

For our 2nd Anniversary, we decided to take a trip to the Motor City - Detroit. I know what you’re thinking - DETROIT!?!? We had heard there were some good casinos there and it’s only 3 1/2 hours away from Canton, so we figured, why not? We had never been there and we’re always up for a new adventure. We stayed at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino and didn’t even leave the hotel to do any sightseeing. Ian got a haircut at the hotel salon, I played slots while Ian played poker, then we had the most delicious dinner at Saltwater restaurant. Unfortunately, we were big losers when it came to gambling but we had a great time!

On our way back to Canton, we stopped by to see my cousin, JB, his wife, Jaime and their son, Ethan. We had a lot of catching up to do since we last saw each other 9 years ago... and I can’t forget, we tried White Castle burgers for the first time (a fish burger for Ian). They were so good, but made my stomach hurt afterwards :(

ian and i have been trying to figure out what to do in our living room since we moved in. everyone knows how much ian loves his turntable and records, so we had to figure out how to put them in our living room without making it look like a club. the brick wall was also an obstacle because we didn’t want to drill any holes in it or cover it up. the shelves turned out  pretty good and now we have TONS of storage for all of ian’s stuff!

this memorial day, ian and i were in ohio. it turned out to be a nice sunny day. perfect for ian and his first 5k run. ian made it to the finish line just over 25 minutes. after the run, we watched the canton memorial day parade and listened to ian’s boss give a heartfelt speech in honor of those who have given their lives to fight for our country.

we lucked out because ian didn’t have to work on saturday and sunday so we were able to visit pittsburgh, only a short two hours away from canton. our old neighbor, bob, is from pittsburgh and happened to be visiting his mom, so we got to hang out with him and his friends at some great local spots.

here it is - the green machine! and yes, those are flames on the side of it. how perfect is ian’s car for driving around ohio. it’s sitting in front of the campaign office in downtown canton. i took a some pictures of the campaign office while ian was busy at work... if you haven’t already, check out the website for ian’s boss - www.johnforcongress.com
